หลักการใช้ Take

Take เป็นคำกริยาที่มีได้หลายความหมายเช่นเดียวกับ Get ซึ่งบางครั้งทำให้สับสนว่าจะใช้อย่างไรดี ดังนั้นมาทำความเข้าใจกับหลักการใช้ Take ในภาษาอังกฤษให้เข้าใจอย่างแจ่มแจ้งกันค่ะ

หลักการใช้ Take ในภาษาอังกฤษ

Take แบ่งวิธีการใช้หลัก ๆ ออกได้ 3 หัวข้อ แต่โดยพื้นฐานเลยคือข้อ 1 ที่ใช้ในความหมายว่า พาไป นำไป เอาไป ดังนี้

1. ใช้ในความหมายว่า ถือไป นำไป พาไป มีโครงสร้างคือ take + คน/สัตว์/สิ่งของ เช่น

Bella took her dog to the park yesterday.
(เบลล่าพาสุนัขของเธอไปที่สวนสาธารณะเมื่อวานนี้)

My brother had taken his pregnant wife to the hospital.
(พี่ชายของฉันพาภรรยาของเขาที่กำลังท้องไปโรงพยาบาล)

Don’t forget to take your umbrella with you. It looks like rain.
(อย่าลืมถือร่มติดไปด้วยนะ ดูเหมือนฝนจะตก)

ในความหมายนี้ยังใช้พูดถึงเรื่องการเดินทางขนส่งด้วย โดยส่วนใหญ่มักใช้กับการขนส่งสาธารณะ (Take a bus/taxi/train) ซึ่งให้ภาพการพาไปเช่นเดียวกัน เช่น
I take the A train to work every day.
(ฉันนั่งรถไฟ A ไปทำงานทุกวัน)

Why didn’t you take a taxi if you were drinking?
(ทำคุณไม่ไปแท็กซี่ถ้าคุณดื่มเหล้า)

นอกจากนี้ยังสามารถพูดในลักษณะที่ว่า ยานพาหนะจะพาเราไปได้ด้วย เช่น
This bus will take you to Victory Monument.
(รถบัสคันนี้จะพาคุณไปยังอนุสาวรีย์ชัยสมรภูมิ)

2. ใช้ในความหมายว่า หยิบ จับ คว้าใส่มือ เช่น

She took my hand.
(เธอจับมือของผม)
เป็นการใช้ take เพื่อเน้นความหมายว่า จับด้วยมือ ซึ่งแม้ว่า She took me by the hand. จะมีความหมายเหมือนกัน แต่ took my hand สื่อความหมายว่า เล็งจับไปที่มืออย่างชัดเจนกว่า

He took a book off the shelf.
(เขาหยิบหนังสือมาจากชั้น 1 เล่ม)

Tom took first prize.
(ทอมคว้ารางวัลที่หนึ่ง)

รวมถึงสามารถใช้สื่อความหมายว่า จับกุม ขโมย และซื้อได้ด้วย เช่น
I left my bike unlocked and someone took it.
(ฉันปล่อยจักรยานไว้โดยไม่ได้ล็อกและมีบางคนมาคว้า (ขโมย) มันไป)

The army took many prisoners.
(ทหารจับกุมเชลยศึกมามากมาย)

I’ll take this bag.
(ฉันจะซื้อกระเป๋าใบนี้)

3. ใช้ในความหมายว่า ใช้เงิน ใช้เวลา

เราใช้ Take เมื่อพูดเกี่ยวกับเรื่องเวลา โดยจำง่าย ๆ เลยว่าจะใช้เมื่อถามคำถามว่า ‘How long’ หรือใช้ในการอธิบายจำนวนรวมของเวลาที่ใช้ทำบางสิ่งบางอย่าง ในส่วนของการใช้เงินจะใช้ในความหมายว่า ใช้ไปเท่าไหร่ เช่น

A: How long does it take from here to the station?
    (จากตรงนี้ถึงสถานีใช้เวลาประมาณเท่าไหร่)
B: It takes about ten minutes.
    (ใช้เวลาประมาณ 10 นาที)

การใช้ Take กับคำนาม (Noun)

นอกจากนี้ยังใช้ take ในโครงสร้าง take + noun (คำนาม) เพื่อสื่อความหมายว่า “ทำ.....” ได้ด้วย ซึ่งคำนามในกรณีนี้จะเกี่ยวกับพฤติกรรมที่ใช้ร่างกายของตัวเราเองกระทำ เช่น

take a look at หมายถึง มองดู

take a walk หมายถึง เดิน

I used to take a walk before breakfast.
(ฉันเคยชินกับการเดินเล่นก่อนอาหารเช้า)

take a rest หมายถึง พักผ่อน

It’s better if you take a rest.
(มันจะดีกว่าถ้าคุณพักผ่อนซะบ้าง)

take a bath หมายถึง แช่ในอ่างอาบน้ำ

I’m going to take a bath.
(ฉันจะแช่อ่างอาบน้ำ)

take a shower หมายถึง อาบน้ำฝักบัว

I took a shower this morning.
(เมื่อเช้านี้ฉันอาบน้ำฝักบัว)

take a picture/photo หมายถึง ถ่ายภาพ

I took a picture of the sea.
(ฉันถ่ายรูปทะเล)

Would you mind taking our picture?
(คุณช่วยถ่ายรูปให้พวกเราหน่อยได้ไหม)

take medicine หมายถึง กินยา (จำให้แม่นว่าในภาษาอังกฤษเมื่อพูดถึงเรื่อง กินยา จะต้องใช้ Take)

I take some medicine according to the doctor's advice.
(ฉันกินยาตามคำแนะนำของหมอ)

Take two tablets every 6 hours as required.
(กรุณากินยา 2 เม็ดทุก 6 ชั่วโมงตามความจำเป็น)

take a chance หมายถึง ฉวยโอกาส, ใช้โอกาส

It was a very difficult decision, but finally I decided to take a chance.
(มันเป็นการตัดสินใจที่ยากมาก ๆ แต่ในที่สุดแล้วฉันก็ตัดสินที่จะคว้าโอกาสนั้น)

take a test หมายถึง เข้าทดสอบ

Janwad took the TOEIC test for the first time.
(จันทร์วาดได้สอบโทอิคเป็นครั้งแรก)

take a leak หมายถึง ไปปัสสาวะ

I need to take a leak.
(ฉันอยากไปปัสสาวะ)

take pride หมายถึง รู้สึกภูมิใจ

We always take pride in the quality of our material.
(พวกเรารู้สึกภูมิใจในคุณภาพของข้อมูลของพวกเราเสมอ)

take a trip หมายถึง เดินทาง

สำนวน วลี จาก Take

take after หมายถึง เหมือน, คล้าย

The boy takes after his father.
(เด็กผู้ชายหน้าตาเหมือนพ่อของเขา)

take…away/take away หมายถึง เอาออกไป, ย้ายออกไป

He took his son away from that school.
(เขาเอาลูกชายของเขาออกจากโรงเรียนนั้น = ลาออก)

take back หมายถึง เอากลับมา, เอาคืน, ยอมรับผิด

take care / take care of หมายถึง ดูแล / เอาใจใส่

take A for B หมายถึง คิดว่า A เป็น B

I took him for a Japanese.
(ฉันคิดว่าเขาเป็นคนญี่ปุ่น)

take off หมายถึง ถอด (เสื้อผ้า, รองเท้า), คว้าเวลาว่างหรือวันหยุดนั่นเอง

Please take your shoes off at the entrance.
(กรุณาถอดรองเท้าไว้ตรงทางเข้า)

take on หมายถึง ว่าจ้าง...., ยอมรับเข้า

take out  หมายถึง เอาออก, นำออก, พาออกไป (กินข้าวหรือเดท), ถอน (เงิน)

I’ll take you out tonight.
(คืนนี้ฉันจะเลี้ยงข้าวคุณ)

take over หมายถึง เข้าควบคุมต่อ, เข้ารับงานต่อ, แทนที่
